Foxworthy on 10 years of Blue Collar
CMT is celebrating the 10th Anniversary of The Blue Collar Comedy Tour with a two-part special that takes a look back on the tour and the role it has in comedic history.
Foxworthy has remained down to earth about this experience, citing it as something that rode on the wings of lady luck. In a recent response he says, “This was one of those cool little things, a little out of the ordinary.”
The idea came to light after Jeff read a story about the Kings of Comedy Tour being advertised for the urban hip audience. He remembers thinking, “This is leaving a lot of people out! A lot of people aren’t urban or hip.” And so the Blue Collar Comedy tour was born.
At the time the tour was introduced in 2000, Foxworthy was a star on his own. The same couldn’t be said for his friends, Ron White, Bill Engvall, and Larry the Cable Guy, who started out with him back in the 80’s.
For Foxworthy it was rewarding to see his friends receive the recognition they deserved for an art they had crafted for many years. Since Blue Collar, Larry the Cable Guy has gone on to become a movie star, Bill Engvall has his own show on TBS, and Ron White wrote a book and tours constantly.
The special airs in two parts: Ten Years of Blue Collar Comedy airs Saturday, April 17, 2010 at 8pm; Blue Collar Comedy: Ten Years of Funny airs at pm, both on CMT.
If you care to see these countrified comedians live, Jeff Foxworthy tickets are your ticket to 3/4 of the Blue Collar troupe that’s currently bringing funny to a venue near you.
