Jeff Foxworthy: Hello tour, goodbye radio show
Jeff Foxworthy continue to be a fan-favorite for his specific blend of situational and redneck humor, which has paved the way for other comedians, like Larry the Cable Guy, to come into the spotlight. The Blue Collar Comedy Tour also continues to be a favorite, and is currently on tour now through the beginning of May.
One place you won’t be seeing, or rather hearing, Jeff Foxworthy is on his syndicated “Foxworthy Countdown” radio show, which began in 1999. After a decade of comedy skits, country music and artist interviews, Foxworthy gave his last show the weekend of Dec. 26, 2009.
Some of Foxworthy’s noteworthy characters on the radio show were Leon, the assistant who never speaks; Faylene the redneck psychic and Art from Art’s Cleaners.
“…Country music is the only form of music that’s always had comedy associated with it. You’ve got comedians in the Country Music Hall of Fame. And I think it’s because we’re both story tellers,” Foxworthy said. “That’s what country music is, it’s story telling. That’s what comedy is.”
